Tier 1: Independent Living
Independent living is for seniors who are fully capable of managing their own daily life meals, hygiene, medication, mobility but who choose to live in a community for social connection, safety, and the freedom from household management.
Think of it as choosing a lifestyle upgrade, not a care arrangement. The senior lives in their own apartment, comes and goes freely, and uses community amenities by choice. Medical support is available but not part of the daily routine.
Who it suits: Active seniors aged 55–75, typically in good health, who are tired of managing a large home alone or who want a richer social life.
Tier 2: Assisted Living
Assisted living provides structured daily support alongside residential living. Trained staff assist with some or all activities of daily living dressing, bathing, medication management, mobility. The senior still has their own space and as much independence as possible, but support is built into the daily routine.
Who it suits: Seniors who need help with one or more daily activities but do not require full medical care or hospitalisation. Common triggers: a recent fall or surgery, a progressive condition like Parkinson's, significant mobility limitation, or difficulty managing medications reliably.
Tier 3: Memory Care
Memory care is specialist residential care for seniors with dementia, Alzheimer's, or other cognitive conditions. The environment is specifically designed for cognitive safety structured routines, secured spaces to prevent wandering, staff trained in dementia communication, and therapeutic programming.
Who it suits: Seniors with a formal dementia or Alzheimer's diagnosis, or those showing significant cognitive decline confusion, disorientation, memory loss affecting daily safety.
Use this framework as a starting point. It is not a clinical assessment always consult a doctor for formal evaluation.
